Special Scientific Institutes are non-profit-making institutions carrying out research activities and/or postgraduate learning activities (higher training), independently from university organizations.
These institutes are ruled by the Ministry of Education, University and Research, in compliance with the D.M. 8 October 1996 n.623.
Such institutes voluntary submit themselves, on a yearly basis, to a ministerial evaluation of their own scientific curriculum. Such procedure is performed on the grounds of specific regulations.
