Course description
This compact course will focus on the finite element method applied to non-linear problems, illustrate classical and innovative solution procedures, and point out the issues related to the implementation of numerical algorithms. Various topics of discretization techniques for non-linear analysis will be introduced, including: finite kinematics, solution approaches (Total Lagrangian, Update Lagrangian), constitutive models (linear and nonlinear elasticity, rate-independent plasticity, viscoelasticity and viscoplasticity), variational formulations for non linear problems, fracture and adaptive meshing techniques, frictionless and frictional contact problems.
This course is also part of the dissemination activities of the NUFRIC project.
